Legends of the Fossils
Fossil Discovery

The “Fossil Discovery” exhibit is a series of interactive games that allow visitors to discover a fossil by digging, restoring and finally comparing the found fossil with previous records. Visitors can learn about fossils from different perspectives and as a result, gain an interest in learning more about them and the ancient organisms that left behind such biological artifacts.

Digging of a Fossil
Digging of a Fossil

A sand pit functions as a fossil excavation site, and visitors are allowed to dig for fossils amongst both the sand and rocks, as a means to instill them with the feeling of making a thrilling scientific discovery firsthand.

Restoration of an Ichthyosaur
Restoration of an Ichthyosaur

Visitors can learn how fossils are restored in this exhibit, in which an entire Ichthyosaur has been restored from a series of individual bones. The exhibition uses a model of an ichthyosaur, accompanied with multimedia displays, to portray the restoration process, from assembly of the skeletons, to the muscles, and then on to the skin and color of an ichthyosaur.

Guess Who I am
Guess Who I am

Ten different fossils were implanted with IC chips, representing bones from a variety of animals. There are three screens situated in front of these fossils, and when the visitors move the specimens near the sensor in front of the screen, the screen will then reveal the images and names of the original animals.

A Different Earth

FLASH simulations are used to explain how environment changes led to extinctions and migrations of certain organisms.

Geological Time Scale

This is the final site of the Fossil Exhibition. There is a service counter and a large diagram depicting Earth’s evolution across a geological time scale.
